pacific northwest chic in portland, or

Sometimes I get a project that has an identity crisis. This ranch home up in Portland, Oregon had been added on to over the years. Part sixties, seventies and eighties the layout was frenetic at best. In order to make the home flow, I knew I had to blow out some walls, re define some spaces and gut all of the finishes. Because my client trusted my process of starting over, her home aesthetic became cohesive and representative of her eclectic tailored taste without feeling additive or compartmentalized.

Selecting a designer for my remodel project was a daunting task. I was remodeling my new home from afar and I wasn’t finding a designer I felt comfortable working with remotely. After talking to friends who had used Alexis as their designer, we met and we had an instant connection. I knew my project would be in good hands with Alexis at the wheel. She’s ridiculously bright, has wonderful ideas and is able to take a stubborn person like me and steer me in new and better directions, even if I think I’m always right; I trust her implicitly. I think my contractor gave her the best compliment, “I don’t normally like working with designers as it’s always their way or the highway, even if it doesn’t make any sense. Alexis is the best designer I’ve ever worked with. Smart, concise and willing to bend when necessary. She listened to me. That was nice for a change.
